This week, we made a presentation of our design product. In this seminar, we got a lot of feedback and opinions from students and professor, which made us understand and realize the shortcomings of our work, and also, we got a lot of good suggestions, which encouraged us to make efforts during the creation. This is an unforgettable class. This is my first time try to design something. I learned a lot in the class of design thinking. This is a good start for me. In this class, I also realized that the work must be tested and used repeatedly before it can be put on the market. This process is hard, but also essential. I really cherish this experience and opportunity of design and hope to have the opportunity to study and try to learn more subject about design in the future.

In this week, we conducted the test phase, and we found another team, who made a “good driver” mobile application. After we exchanged opinions and feedbacks, we all gave different feedback and suggestions to each other. This is also a good start for our presentation, we expressed our works as far as possible need to pass the concept and idea, I’m glad the team also give us a good evaluation. However the test stage was successfully completed. The first choice of customer‘s first choice is vital part. And we get many problems that we can’t find in our project, but they find it and told us. In this process, after discussion and review of our central topic, we found a way to solve the problems and discussed the upcoming presentation next week. In this process, I also have a further understanding and breakthrough of my own understanding of design.

In this week, after discussion and the foundation laid last week, we continue to assign the work of each team member and continue to complete the prototype production. However, making the prototype is a long process. Our product is a table. To interpret this work well, we need to be meticulous in all aspects to ensure that others can understand the prototype. So it brings a lot of work to us, and our division of labor is very clear. Next week we will have the test phase, which is also a challenge for us, because we don’t have much time, but if we want to have a perfect prototype we need more time to finish it. We are also making preparations for the test stage next week. I was assigned to finish design drawing of our app, which could not be done without the help of team members. We even arranged extra group meetings. I am very glad that we could all be willing to attend and occupy our own spare time to finish our assignment. This was a good team work. In the process of making prototypes, we also found other minor problems about our works, which were solved after discussion. It’s also a good start for us. Looking forward to the test next week and good cooperation with team members again.

Last week, we finished the final design idea. This week, we made a simple model out of the finished design drawing. Although we haven’t finished yet, we have a clear division of labor and achieved the result we thought to finish at the beginning.Our design is a can help international students to better integrate into the new environment and can help them learn more effective learning table, a big table with four screens, the screen will use our app, and our app can help students better with local student to communicate, help them to better integrate into the new environment and new country.According to my part, I was responsible for making a 3d model of table, and the other three people respectively made touch screen and keyboard draw. It was a good start for us.Next week, we will finish the rest of the essay writing. I think everyone has a clear division of labor and is a good team.I look forward to working with them again next week.

This week we are discussed and summarized the rest of the last work, this week we do the problem statement, for our problems are discussed, and come up with a final question: How might technology be used to create a more positive in-class experience that reduces the level of disconnect for students. In order to better solve the problem, we found three key words in the problem and gave a conclusion. They are Disconnect/positive/ technology. We found the key of the problem, and according to these questions we chose a simpler and better answer, both for us and for the subject. We agreed and chose to make an app. Finally, we have summarized personna (description of the user) and designed a preliminary prototype of the app, so that the interface can make users better use of our design both visually and in use.

Our topic this week is defining phases. According to our theme we analyze the problems faced by different backgrounds, different cultures and different countries in life, and we focused on language and thought as the biggest problem they faced, we define the topic as difficulties with international students and professors and how to help them. We write down ideas and concepts on sticky notes, and bold thinking and discussion help us better answer and solve problems. Compared to last week, this week is still a little difficult for me, it takes more time and energy to discuss and think, both in terms of thinking and being more detailed, Hopefully we can come to a conclusion and find a good solution to this week’s problem.

In this week, I learned to analyze what should be considered before design. For example: first we should make a empathy map, analyze each user group, derive from a large range to all small ranges, This is also to better understand the needs of users and satisfy their curiosity. The second stage is define, which is make sense of data collected synthesis, this is very important stage. Finally -ideate, this is the part where we have to choose the best idea. In fact, in this seminar. We formed a team for assignment 2, and we unanimously selected topics of interest to all members, and made a preliminary thinking and empathy map. There were a lot of challenges along the way, for example, we have too many ideas and often get sidetracked. But since we all come from different countries, this topic is very beneficial for us. On the whole, our discussion went very well, we thought in many directions around the topic, and everyone gave us a lot of useful ideas. By analyzing people of different age group different gender and different audiences in different countries, we finally get consistent answers. I look forward to continuing our discussions next week.
